Perisher Valley , Smiggins Holes, Blue Cow and Charlottes Pass provide the largest skiing playground in the Southern hemisphere.
The area is easily accessed by road from Cooma and there is free parking. Obviously snow chains must be carried. There are also regular shuttle buses from Jindabyne and you can also choose the ski tube to access the area.
For the skier, Perisher Blue provides 50 lifts which include an 8 seat express chairlift and two express quad chairs. The mountain provides 1245 hectares with a vertical drop of 355 metres. There is also a super pipe and mini pipe together with terrain rails for the enthusiast. There are also areas that allow for night skiing. Snow making equipment is used if Mother Nature does not supply the goods.

The Thredbo Village is on the Alpine Way, 5 minutes drive from the Skitube, which provides hassle free all-weather transport to Perisher Blue. Perisher Blue is the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a picture perfect resort with the longest ski runs in Australia. If you’re looking for some real ‘Fun in the Snow’ , Thredbo is about 90 minutes drive from Cooma.
When the snow thaws, alpine meadows bloom with wildflowers and trout fill the streams. In the warmer months the mountains have an amazing list of things to see and do. Bushwalking, fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, golf, water skiing and white water rafting are waiting for you to come and discover.
